UK commercial broadcaster Five is eyeing the possibility of launching a standalone kids channel based on its successful Milkshake strand.
It is expected to initially launch the channel on one of its digital channels Fiver and Five USA – during the day before launching a full station. This comes as the RTL-owned broadcaster announced that it is cutting its programming budget by 25%. The network has cut the budget from £220m (Â255m) to £165m as a result of the current economic downturn, primarily cutting costs during daytime and late night slots.
