ProSiebenSat.1 signs up to Astra’s HD platform

Satellite operator SES Astra has signed a contract with ProSiebenSat.1 allowing the latter’s German Free TV Group to launch three HD channels on the Astra platform from next year.

The channels, Sat.1, ProSieben and Kabel Eins, will join Astra’s new HD Plus service from January 2010. The channels will continue to be broadcast in parallel in standard definition.

RTL Germany has already said that it will offer RTL and Vox in HD on the HD Plus platform.
