Virgin Media reveals HD line-up

UK cable operator Virgin Media is to launch four new HD channels by the end of the month.

Lifestyle channel Living will be broadcast in HD for the first time in the UK, along with FX HD, MTV Networks International’s MTVNHD and National Geographic. They join BBC HD, the only high-definition channel currently available on the platform. Virgin Media said it will make the full line-up of channels available to its XL TV subscribers for no additional charge. The operator also offers around 300 hours of HD content on-demand.

The pay-TV operator is also in talks with thematic channel operator UKTV about launching a Good Food HD channel. Virgin Media and BBC Worldwide, the BBC’s commercial arm, jointly own UKTV.
