BT commences FTTC trial

UK telco BT has started fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) trials in the north London suburb of Muswell Hill and the Cardiff suburb of Whitchurch.

The trial will cover over 15,000 premises, according to BT. Service providers involved in the trial include Talk Talk, Sky and O2 as well as BT’s retail arm.

BT is testing fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) on a new housing development in Kent and is planning a wider pilot of FTTP in March 2010.
