Solaris Mobile makes insurance claim
Solaris Mobile, the Eutelsat/SES Astra mobile satellite joint-venture has announced that it is making an insurance claim because its S-band payload is showing significant non-compliance from its original specificationsÂ.
Solaris was awarded S-band spectrum to provide mobile satellite services according to the European UnionÂs European Selection and Authorisation Process. The company said it was still committed to providing these services but that it had filed a claim for Âthe full incurred value of the payloadÂ.
Following an investigation, Solaris confirmed that the company should still be able to offer some Âbut not all of the services it was planning to offer.
The S-band payload is hosted on EutelsatÂs W2A satellite, which was launched on April 3.
