French broadband base grows at slower rate

France had 18.35 million high-speed internet subscribers at the end of the first quarter, of which 17.3 million received services via ADSL, according to the latest survey by telecom regulator ARCEP.

The figures represent growth of 3.7% on the previous quarter and growth of 13% year-on-year. The year-on-year rate of growth has now slowed down in each of the last four quarters. The first quarter of 2008 saw year-on-year growth of 18.8%.
