CSA mulls deadline for mobile broadcast

French media regulator the CSA is considering setting a deadline for the submission of requests for licences from mobile broadcast channels, according to a report in the Les Echos newspaper.

Potential providers of so-called TMP (personal mobile TV) services in France have had the relevant paperwork in their hands since mid-2008, but so far only BFM-TV and NRJ 12 have made firm commitments. According to Les Echos, the CSA could set a deadline at the end of June for the others to make their minds up. However, the regulator will await the completion of a report by TV producer Cyril Viguier on mobile TV, commissioned by the French government, before taking a final decision.
