YouSee boosts flat quarter for TDC

Danish telco TDC’s cable division YouSee has once again lifted the operator’s quarterly revenue figures, contributing DKK814m (EUR109m) for the three months to September, compared with DKK715m for the same period in 2007. EBITDA for the division was DKK241m, up from DKK219m.

YouSee’s revenue for the first nine months of the year was DKK2.407bn, up 14.1 per cent, while EBITDA was DKK697m, up 15 per cent.

TDC said that YouSee faced challenges from the expansion of the country’s digital-terrestrial TV platform next year. Digital-terrestrial pay-TV player Boxer plans to offer 29 channels in multiple packages from next November, while free-to-air player Digi-TV will use an additional multiplex to expand its offer.

TDC’s overall revenue declined by 1.7 per cent to DKK29.11bn for the first nine months due to a fall in fixed-line telephony revenues and the divestment of various business units. EBITDA grew by 4.4 per cent to DKK9.781bn, boosted by broadband and TV sales and lower costs.
