History stakes its claim to be growth leader

History has laid a claim to be the fastest growing pay TV channel in the key western European markets of the UK, Italy and Spain in the first quarter.

The A+E Networks-owned channel grew its ratings by 65% year-on-year in the primetime 18-plus demographic, compared with growth of 35% last year.

In Italy the channel saw growth of 111%, making it the top factual channel on pay TV in primetime, it said. In the UK, History saw 29% growth in primetime, while growth in Spain was 13%.
