DAZN becomes world’s largest investor in women’s football broadcast

DAZN Group has announced it has become the world’s largest investor in women’s football broadcasting, with the creation of a new department dedicated exclusively to women’s sport.

With the acquisition of the women-fronted platform ata football in August, the recent investment in Serie A Femminile rights, and DAZN already housing the UEFA Women’s Champions League, according to the sports streamer, it has officially become the main investor in women’s football broadcasting rights.

DAZN said with the launch of its women sport division this further reinforces its title of the world’s leading investor in women’s football broadcast. Co-founders of ata football, Hannah Brown and Esmeralda Negron, who now belong to the DAZN Group following this acquisition, will be responsible of managing the new department.

The global sport platform said the first major broadcast rights deal with Serie A and as co-CEOs of the new DAZN Group women’s sports department, Brown and Negron underpin the company’s “commitment to increasing the visibility and accessibility of women’s football and reinforces our strategic commitment to reversing, developing and boosting women’s football in our main markets and globally”.
