Bedrock migrates Belgium’s RTLplay to new platform

Streaming technology company Bedrock has implemented the migration o Belgian streaming service RTLplay to its brand new streaming platform.

According to Bedrock, the migration will give RTLplay users a state-of-the-art user experience on connected TV (Samsung TV, Apple TV, Android TV), mobile, and web.

Bedrock has been the partner of RTLplay since 2017, providing a scalable platform for the latter’s growing audience, with a service that spans VOD to premium live and sports events.

As part of Bedrock’s commitment to innovation, new devices in the connected TV and streaming spaces will be launched in the near future, expanding the possibilities for RTLplay users.

“Bedrock’s mission is to empower national broadcast leaders to compete with global streaming giants. We take great pride in working closely with the RTL teams in Brussels to deliver the most advanced user experience in Belgium. Our powerful personalization, fueled by extensive data, enables RTL to effectively promote and distribute its content, ensuring the utmost satisfaction of its audience,” said Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock.

“Regarding our users’ behaviour on RTLplay, we have been observing a significant increase in consumption on the big screen (TV screen) since the beginning of 2023. Beyond being an industry trend, this growth is influenced and accelerated by the content we offer, namely an increasingly extensive catalogue of premium quality live and long-form content. It also seamlessly aligns with our video strategy at RTL Belgium, based on the full complementarity between our linear and non-linear media. In this ‘second screen to first screen’ strategy, we aim to provide our users with the most comprehensive and optimal user experience. This journey began with Samsung Tizen and will continue in the coming weeks with an even broader distribution offering. Stay tuned!”  said Julien Brassine, digital media, data and innovation director of RTL Belgium.
