AMC+ and WBD’s Max unveil promotional ‘pop up’ partnership

In an intriguing tactical arrangement, a slate of top AMC scripted series are set to have a temporary home on Warner Bros Discovery’s new streaming platform Max in the US. From September 1st to October 31st, series such as Fear The Walking Dead and Killing Eve will be available on Max in what is dubbed a ‘pop up’ partnership.

From AMC’s perspective, the partnership is viewed as an opportunity to showcase the kind of content that can usually only be accessed via the company’s own streaming platform AMC+. “This promotional arrangement with Warner Bros. Discovery is a terrific opportunity to serve up some of our most popular and critically acclaimed programming to millions of Max subscribers in the US for two full months,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks.

From WBD’s perspective, the inclusion of top AMC shows for a two-moth window is a way of drawing attention to the new Max proposition. Currently, the plan is for approximately 200 episodes from seven different AMCN series to be made available via a dedicated section called AMC+ Picks On Max. Other shows covered include Anne Rice’s Interview With A Vampire and A Discovery of Witches.

Meredith Gertler, executive VP global content strategy, planning & analysis for WBD, said: “Subscribers turn to Max to find a deep and diverse selection of stories for the whole household. The AMC+ collection pop-up is an excellent example of how we can use innovative strategies to add value to our content offering.”
