Tubi hires Vimeo boss Anjali Sud as CEO

Anjali Sud

Fox Corporation’s streaming service Tubi has named Vimeo boss Anjali Sud as chief executive officer, she succeeds former CEO and founder Farhad Massoudi.

Sud joins Tubi after spending the last decade at the video content platform Vimeo. She starts her new role September 1 2023, reporting to Tubi Media Group CEO Paul Cheesbrough.

Massoudi stepped down at the end of June following a restructure at the company and the formation of Tubi Media Group, under the leadership of Cheesbrough. The new division houses Fox’s standalone digital businesses including Tubi, Credible and Blockchain Creative Labs, joined by the digital platforms and teams that support Fox’s wider digital business in news, sports and entertainment.

Fox Corp acquired Tubi for US$440 million in an attempt to break into the streaming market in 2020.  Tubi Media Group was created to provide the necessary strategy, leadership and focus to elevate Fox’s digital businesses.

Prior to joining Vimeo, Sud held positions in finance, media and e-commerce at Time Warner and Amazon.

“Anjali is a highly accomplished executive in the technology and media industry with a passion and track record for strategic disruption and authentic leadership,” said Cheesbrough. “As Tubi continues to scale and solidify its momentum as the most watched free TV and movie streaming service in the U.S., she is the perfect candidate to lead Tubi into a new era of creativity, growth and market leadership.”

“We are witnessing a seismic shift in where and how content will be consumed, and I believe that Tubi can become the destination for the next generation of audiences,” added Sud. “The future of streaming TV is free, and I am excited to join the Tubi team to help shape the next wave of entertainment, by giving all people access to all the world’s stories. Tubi is doing things differently in a space that is being imminently disrupted, and that is my kind of opportunity.”
