Pubcaster ITV has announced its streaming service ITVX has reached one billion streams in over four months since its launch at the end of last year.

The streaming platform which debuted December 8 2022, earned one billions streams on Easter Sunday (April 9 2023). It is the first streaming service in the UK to offer viewers access free content with ads and ad-free paid subscription, all in one place, with paying subscribers also having access to BritBox UK.

ITV beats its record of hitting the one billion streams mark after seven months on its former streaming service ITV Hub. March marked the most successful month for ITVX, after it gained 282 million streams, an increase of more than 100 million on last year.

According to ITV, The Twelve, Without Sin and A Spy Among Friends were among the top performing ITVX premieres during the period, with 80% of audiences who have watched ITVX premieres going on to watch other content on the platform.

Footballers Wives was the most watched UK drama series from ITVX’s archive content, with One Tree Hill clocking up the highest volume of streams to date amongst the platform’s range of US boxsets.

Meanwhile, The Chase channel was the most popular themed FAST channel on the service.

Love Island 2023 season delivered a strong driver of streaming and is the most watched programme on ITVX this year based on streams, with the fifth series of Unforgotten being the most watched drama on ITVX.

In addition, streams of sporting events including, 6 Nations Rugby and the FA Cup were credited to pulling a strong livestream audiences in 2023. 

Data from YouGov’s BrandIndex tool also recently revealed that ITVX has now overtaken All4 and Disney+ in terms of consideration and awareness scores.
