RTL Hungary taps Bedrock for RTL+ streaming launch

RTL Hungary has tapped technology outfit Bedrock to power its newly rebranded RTL+ direct-to-consumer streaming offering.

RTL Hungary has turned to Bedrock to deliver a service with three tiers launching simultaneously: an AVOD offering dubbed RTL+ Light based around a traditional catch-up TV proposition; RTL+ Activ, a service distributed via telcos that offers more premium content, thanks to partnerships and distributions deals; and a full SVOD service that allows subscribers to watch RTL’s current linear shows and special content without ads.

The latter includes premium streaming features such as download for offline use, a dedicated kids section and multiple profiles.

The subscription-based and ad-free platform RTL+ is the largest Hungarian streaming service, offering local and often exclusive content coming to web, mobiles and smart TVs.

“Bedrock is a long-standing partner in the development of our VOD products and in the digital evolution of RTL, having helped us to innovate our VOD platforms RTLMost and RTL Most+. This joint work has now matured into the creation of RTL’s SVOD platform, RTL+. Thank you for a very efficient and quick collaboration,” said Gabriella Vidus, CEO of RTL Hungary.

“Bedrock’s mission is to support national broadcast leaders in their ambitions to be on-par with global giants. We’re proud to have worked closely with RTL teams in Budapest to deliver a state-of-the-art platform, including a powerful personalisation and leveraging data for RTL to promote and distribute its content the best possible way,” said Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock.
