Samsung TV Plus unveils redesign and new FAST channel launches

Samsung’s bid to be a force in the rapidly-growing AVOD and FAST sector has seen it unveil a new wave of exclusive channels on its Samsung TV Plus service. The most high-profile is a new Jamie Oliver channel, courtesy of a deal with Fremantle. But the addition of a Festive Hub and a Mythbusters channel are also a serious show of intent.

The new owned and operated channels are augmented by a series of content partnerships, which will give audiences 24/7 access to classic content such as Location, Location, Location on Horizons, a new channel by Banijay Rights. Horizons will also feature unscripted series like 8 Out of 10 Cats and Pointless, as well as period drama series Gunpowder and The Woman in White.

Samsung TV Plus has also partnered with All3Media to deliver two factual channels Great British Menu and Homes Under the Hammer. A deal is also in place with ITV Studios for a Come Dine With Me channel on Samsung’s UK service.

These latest content initiatives, which coincide with MIPCOM Cannes, are coupled with a new logo, colour palette and design revamp for Samsung TV Plus.

Samsung meanwhile said that new channels including Grit XTRA, ION Mystery, Halloween Movies, Midsomer Murders, NHRA TV, and additional Local News join the over 220 and growing premium channels already available across the US on millions of Samsung Smart TVs and galaxy devices.
