Channelbox adds Ukrainian channels to Freeview

UK Freeview-connected multichannel platform Channelbox has added two Ukrainian channels to its offering: Film UA Drama and Star Cinema.

FilmUA Drama and StarCinema are now available free-of-charge via the Channelbox platform on the Freeview digital-terrestrial platform in the UK,on  channel 271, and via the Channelbox mobile applications worldwide.

Film UA Drama and Star Cinema offer series, movies and general entertainment programmes from top Ukrainian producers.

Earlier this year Channelbox launched the Ukraina 24 news channel on its platform. However, the channel ceased operations in July when owner Rinat Akhmetov, one of the country’s leading business figtures, closed down his Media Group Ukraine business following the introduction of a law restricting the influence of oligarchs in Ukrainian public life.

Channelbox currently provides over 60 free TV channels on the Freeviwe platform and its own apps. It offers monetization of linear channels via dynamic ad insertion on HbbTV and MHEG-based Freeview devices.

“We support Ukraine and its citizens and are thrilled to add these two top quality entertainment channels to the platform. We hope that being able to watch the channels from home will bring a small comfort to the Ukrainians in the UK and abroad,” said Tanya Kronfli, Head of Channelbox content and business development.

“Launching StarCinema via Channelbox on Freeview UK is a good opportunity to make the Ukrainians who had to flee the country feel closer to their home,” said Alexei Shuldeshov, general producer of TV channels.
