Heard-Depp trial sets records for Court TV

The high-profile defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp attracted a record live audience for Court TV, the E.W. Scripps-owned broadcaster has said.

A peak of 558,000 viewers tuned in to the broadcaster to witness the verdict of the weeks-long trial which has captured the minds of many on social media. 

Court TV said that it was one of the highest-rated television networks among broadcast and cable in the US on the afternoon of Wednesday June 1, with its audience larger than ESPN, TBS, TNT, FX, ID, Discovery Channel and 127 others.

Court TV’s coverage of the case nearly quadrupled the audience for the networks’ live trial coverage as compared to the pre-trial period (+278%). 

Daily streaming hours more than quintupled during this same period (+415%), with the channel available on FAST platforms including Samsung TV Plus, Vizio, Pluto TV and Amazon Fire TV.
