Canal+ renews distribution deal with OCS

Canal+ and Orange’s OCS have renewed their multi-year distribution agreement that allows subscribers to Canal+’s pay TV offering to view the services offered by OCS.

OCS, which counted 3.3 million subscribers in France at the end of June, will have access to Canal+’s subscriber base.

OCS offers for channels and a raft of on-demand programming, with films available to premiere exclusively from six months after their cinema release thanks to agreements with UGC and Sony Pictures Television.. it is also the home of HBO series in France, offering new shows and the HBO back catalogue, in addition to its own OCS Signature and OCS Originals series.

The deal will enable Canal+ subscribers to view series and movies such as Qu’est-ce qu’on a encore fait au Bon Dieu !m  Spider-Man New Generation, Escape GameGrâce à Dieu, Sauver ou périr,The Spy Watchmen,  The Walking Dead, His Dark Materials, A la croisée des mondes and Game of Thrones

“We are thrilled to have renewed this distribution agreement with Canal+ Group, which has been since 2012 a manor partner of OCS. This agreement reinforces the links between our two groups and allows use together to attract new subscribers,” said Serge Laroye, president of OCS.

“We are delighted to continue our association with OCS which is one of the pillars of our movies and series offering. Our ambition is to aggregate in the same place the best premium content to offer it to the greatest number of subscribers,” said Frank Cadoret, head of Canal+ France, underlining the pay TV group’s emerging role as an aggregator as well as an originator of content, a strategy that this week saw it strike a deal to package Netflix alongside its own content offering.
