2btube takes majority stake in Touché Films

2btube, a digital media company with offices in Spain, Mexico and the US, has acquired a majority stake in Ecuadorian production company Touché Films.

Touché Films runs Spanish-language comedy sketch channel Enchufe.tv, which has 19.3 million subscribers on YouTube, 10.5 million followers on Facebook and is also distributed on cable and free TV across Latin America.

2btube said that it will jointly invest with Touché Films in increasing the volume of production, distribution and international expansion of Enchufe.tv.

“We are so proud to have brought the team of Touché Films into the 2btube family,” said Bastian Manintveld, executive chairman of 2btube, “They have managed to build a successful world-class production company that understands and speaks the language of the digital generation.

“Like 2btube, they know how to work with brands who want to reach this elusive audience. We’ve been working together for over two years, and over the next years we’re looking forward to realise our joint ambition to become the leading Spanish language digital media group.”

Touché Films CEO, Martin Dominguez, said: “It’s a match made in new media heaven where we each bring something unique to the table, and further enables us to continue and expand on our mission to be the leading producer of comedy for digital platforms.”

2btube was founded in 2014 and has launched more than 20 channels, represents around 500 creators, and claims to reach an audience of more than 1.5 billion monthly views and 265 million subscribers on YouTube.

Touché Films also has two other major projects slated for release in 2019: a feature film, called Rock ’n Cola, co-produced with Narcos production company Dynamo; and an original action series called Mortal Glitch.

The deal was announced this week and closed in late December. Terms of the agreement were not revealed.
