Sony Pictures Television has teamed up with sister company Sony Interactive Entertainment UK to launch the Pop App, a new on-demand app for kids featuring shows from commercial kids channel Pop.
Aimed at 7-11-year-olds, the Pop App is free for all connected PlayStation 4 devices and available to download from the PlayStation Store. It provides on-demand content from Pop and Pop Max, including popular programme franchises, movies and first-run shows. The new service comes with access to titles such as Pokémon, Power Rangers and Lego Nexo Knights.
The launch follows that of the Pop Fun App that Sony debuted last year, giving more people access to Pop and its kids’ entertainment by adding PS4 to TV, mobile and tablets.
Ian Durndell, executive vice-president, digital distribution and direct-to-consumer, SPT, said: “At SPT, we’re focused on strengthening our direct-to-consumer businesses and are committed to developing new ways to reach audiences. This partnership with our sister company, PlayStation, gives us an exciting opportunity to reach out to more family audiences with some of the UK’s most popular kids content through the PS4 network.”
