The RT news network’s first French language TV channel, RT France, has gone live, covering local, regional, national and international stories affecting the Francophone world.
The channel is headquartered in Paris but is dedicated to the French-speaking world and will broadcast in France, Belgium, Canada and the Mediterranean.
RT France’s president and CEO, Xenia Fedorova, told DTVE earlier this year that RT had assigned €20 million to launch the channel – funds that would cover equipment, rent and studio construction costs.
Alongside its main RT international channel, RT, which is sponsored by the Russian state, runs a number of localised stations – including RT UK, RT America, RT Arabic and RT en Espanol.
The RT Francais news website has been live since 2015.
