The channel is headquartered in Paris but is dedicated to the French-speaking world and will broadcast in France, Belgium, Canada and the Mediterranean.

RT France’s president and CEO, Xenia Fedorova, told DTVE earlier this year that RT had assigned €20 million to launch the channel – funds that would cover equipment, rent and studio construction costs.

Alongside its main RT international channel, RT, which is sponsored by the Russian state, runs a number of localised stations – including RT UK, RT America, RT Arabic and RT en Espanol.

The RT Francais news website has been live since 2015.
