Scripps Networks Interactive is further expanding its global home and lifestyle channel HGTV with a new launch in South Korea.
HGTV will be immediately available in the region, on TV channel KT olleh, as what’s being billed as the first-ever regional channel dedicated exclusively to the home and lifestyle category in Korea.
Over the past two years Scripps has made global rollout of HGTV a “key priority”. The company has made a range of launches of the channel through New Zealand, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
Leena Singarajah, managing director of Asia at Scripps, said: “HGTV is highly regarded as the preeminent destination for home-related content around the globe, with the interest in and demand for such programming only continuing to grow.
“We have seen HGTV garnering great success in Asia and are confident that it will be welcomed by audiences in Korea.”
Last week it was reported that merger talks between Discovery and Scripps had resumed after initial discussions were abandoned in 2014.
