Canal+ Group’s African unit Canal+ Afrique has acquired local rights to the football World Cup and will distribute all matches from the tournament live to its subscribers in francophone Africa.
The Canal+ Foot channel will be entirely given over to the competition from June 12 to July 13.
Canal+ Afrique already holds the rights to France’s Ligue 1, the English Premier League, Italy’s Série A and Spain’s La Liga as well as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League tournaments.
“This exceptional commitment testifies to Canal+ Afrique’s desire to broadcast the best to African viewers, particularly those whose national teams have qualified,” said David Mignot, CEO of Canal+ Afrique.
