Rightster names marketing chief, breaks into comScore top 10

Online video distribution specialist Rightster has hired John Dillon as vice-president of marketing, in charge of marketing functions and stakeholder communications.

Dillon was previously head of marketing of Alcatel Lucent’s software and service portfolio and previously served as chief marketing officer of Velocix, the CDN provider acquired by Alcatel Lucent.

Dillon’s appointment follows that of three former ITV executives – Robin Pembrooke as vice-president of product and solutions, Jonathan Bates as director of content and partnerships and Ben Freeman as head of Rightster Studios – as well as Donagh O’Malley from Google TV as global vice-president, platforms and general manager of Rightster US.

Rightster also announced today that it had broken into the top 10 US comScore YouTube rankings for the first time, following a record 17 million US views in October.
