Second screens boost ratings for Chello’s Canal Panda

Chellomedia’s Spanish kids channel Canal Panda has seen its monthly viewer ratings increase to 0.6% from 0.3% thanks to the launch of multiscreen apps, according to the broadcaster.

Chellomedia introduced Canal Panda streaming and VOD apps for iPhones and iPads in April using technology from Applicaster. The app costs €1.59 per month and includes 15 minutes of free access for the first six months.

“We are proud of being able to present Canal Panda to the Spanish audience with these innovative and pioneering services for our young viewers and their parents,” said Eduardo Zulueta, CEO Chello Multicanal.  “We have seen that the use of mobile devices is helping our audience to know us deeply and encourages their coming to the big screen to watch us more often.”
