Verimatrix enhances VCAS for internet

Conditional access specialist Verimatrix has announced a range of enhancements to its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for internet TV.

Key enhancements include closed captioning, offering support for multilingual programming and service delivery that extends the value of encoded HLS assets across a wider geographic footprint; dynamic copy control parameters that enforces output control parameters to prohibit unauthorised copying of streamed content; on-screen display fingerprinting that forces the periodic display of a device identifier overlay to deter unauthorised retransmission of streamed content; local file cache and playback options to support locally downloaded content in secure HLS format to extend range of service delivery options; and extended client instrumentation to provide more detailed reporting of client device status and network performance to enhance overall deployment management.

“We are experiencing the maturing of the OTT video market where network operators are now able to blend OTT into their traditional services – from an operational, technology and revenue model perspective. This requires enhanced OTT security functionality and options in order to deliver premium content to OTT devices,” said Petr Peterka, chief technology officer of Verimatrix. “Our VCAS for Internet TV enhancements are in response to our customers’ specific security needs to enable a transparent experience for their subscribers, while still maintaining the appropriate level of security across devices.”

Verimatrix said the updates enable a greater range of subscriber features and an enhanced security profile for advanced over-the-top video delivery. The ViewRight Web client products for PC and Mac will enable an extended range of delivery models and feature more fine-grained security options on a device by device basis.

Verimatrix will be exhibiting at IBC on Stand 4.B54
