3 Italia and Vodacom launch 3G SVOD with ODG

Italian mobile operator 3 Italia has teamed up with SeaChange International-owned On Demand Group (ODG) to launch its first subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service.

ODG is providing its Adrenalin platform to power the operator’s 3G SVOD service. 3 Italia’s TV:On Demand service will offer top-rated shows via a choice of three handsets, with functionality that includes play, pause and resume viewing.

ODG has also announced that it is providing an SVOD service to South African mobile operator Vodacom. The operator’s service, also branded as TV:On Demand service is available to its 3G customers, offering popular series including Sex and the City, The Sopranos, and Entourage, as well as music videos and other content, for a flat fee of ZAR75 (€7.85) a month or ZAR20 a week.
