KDG eyes PrimaCom assets

German cable operator Kabel Deutschland is eyeing the acquisition of rival operator PrimaCom’s assets as the level four operator faces insolvency.

Primacom is facing insolvency after creditors asked earlier this week for €29.2m to be repaid. KDG is keen to acquire Primacom’s 800,000 subscribers in the areas that it operates and is also keen to increase its direct customer base. Level 4 operators such as Primacom have a direct billing relationship with its subscribers and German cablers including KDG, Unity Media and Kabel BW are all keen to ramp up this part of their business.
