Ireland’s City Channel looks to Chellomedia deal for UK

City Channel, the local Irish broadcaster, is looking to strike a joint venture deal in the UK with pan-European broadcast group Chellomedia, according to press reports.

The channel, which was set up by former RTE presenter David Harvey, is hoping to launch similar, local, low cost, advertising and infomercial-heavy stations in cities including Bristol and Edinburgh as part of the move. Chellomedia already owns a third of the company and the two parties have previously discussed launching local channels in Hungary.
