Box TV executive director steps down

The executive director of UK channel operator Box TV, Scott Monks, is stepping down after 17 years at the company.

Monks, who was Box TV’s longest serving employee, plans to set up his own business – details of which are yet to be announced.

“I have had a fantastic time at Box TV working on some great projects such as launching 11 channels including the UK’s number one music channel 4Music, the formation of the Channel 4/Bauer joint venture and, most recently, the expansion of the business overseas,” said Monks.

Box TV is a 50-50 joint venture between Channel 4 and Bauer Media and owns a string of music channels including 4Music, Kiss, The Box, Magic, Kerrang! and SmashHits.

In September 2013 Channel 4 announced it has appointed former Global Radio executive Matt Rennie as Managing Director of Box TV.

A year earlier the firm launched its Box TV channel across Africa after signing carriage deals with satellite platform Top TV and Kenyan pay TV platform Zuku.
