UPC Cablecom to acquire Gais network

Swiss cable operator UPC Cablecom is set to acquire the cable network operated by the municipality of Gais. The electorate in Gais voted in favour of the sale on March 11. The network was set up in 1972 and now offers analogue and digital services, including HD channels, video-on-demand and up to 100Mbps broadband.

UPC Hungary to acquire local operator

UPC Hungary has received regulatory approval to acquire local cable operator RubiCom. The country’s Competition Authority has given the green light for the Liberty Global operator to buy RubiCom, which delivers services to around 100,000 households. UPC Direct adds Story5 in Hungary

UPC’s Hungarian DTH platform UPC Direct has added romance channel Story5 to its line-up. Launched last year, the channel airs romantic series and telenovelas for 20 hours a day from 06:00 to 02:00. Story 5 is the sister channel of Story4, both of which are operated by Sanoma Digital Media.
