Starman to launch VOD with SeaChange

Estonian cable operator Starman is rolling out a VOD platform based on the SeaChange Adrenalin back office. The offering, scheduled to launch this year, will include VOD, catch-up and nDVR services. Separately, Starman is also rolling out SeaChange’s eventIS CASIS system to update its DVB Service Information operation.

Elion to launch app on Samsung Smart TV

Estonian IPTV provider Elion has signed a deal to launch an app on Samsung’s Smart TV platform. The pair signed an agreement in the Latvian capital, Riga, last week. The move will enable Estonian viewers to access Elion’s service via Samsung TVs without a set-top box.

Elion grows TV and broadband business

Estonian cable operator Elion added 14,800 new customers last year, ending December with a total of 140,000 subscribers. The additions mean Elion now has a 40% share of the country’s cable market. The operator also added 9,400 broadband customers during the year, giving it a total base of 201,000 subscribers and a 55% market share.

nutiTV reaches one in four Estonian homes

Estonian telco Elion’s nutiTV service now reaches 134,600 subscribers, or about one in four Estonian homes, the company has announced. Elion added 4,700 nutiTV customers in the third quarter, giving it a 38.2% share of the country’s cable TV market.

NutiTV launches Android app

Estonian telco Elion’s NutiTV service has launched an Android application to enable Android phone users to change channels and order recordings. The Android app is free and can be downloaded from the Android market. The move follows the earlier launch of a similar service for iOS devices.

Facebook app for Elion

Estonian service provider Elion plans to introduce a Facebook application for its nutiTV IPTV service.
