Tele Columbus upgrades Munich homes to 1Gbps

Cable internet bandwidths of up to 1Gbps are now available to 270,000 homes in Germany’s second city, Munich, served by cable operator Tele Columbus.

Tele Columbus, which operates under the PŸUR brand, said the technical upgrade to enable the increased speeds had been completed.

Tele Columbus said that Munich had he second largest city network after Berlin, which is being upgraded as part of the company’s gigabit expansion plan.

Tele Columbus said that the fastest connections with 400, 500 and 1,000 Mbps already account for more than 30% of all new broadband sign-ups at PŸUR.

The company said that the development of Gigabit internet for 270,000 homes in Munich was an an important milestone for PŸUR, which is on its way to providing almost 2.3 million households nationwide with speeds of up to 1Gbps.
