ORS takes stake in Insys Video Technologies

Austrian broadcast infrastructure outfit ORS has taken a stake in Polish OTT solutions provider Insys Video Technologies following a long-standing partnership with the company.

Insys Video Technologies was founded in 2006 by Krzysztof Bartkowski and Piotr Czekała. As an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner, Insys VT develops cloud-based OTT solutions and services based on AWS Media Services.

ORS, established in 2005, is 60% owned by Austrian pubcaster ORF and 40% by Medicur Sendeanlagen, part of the Raiffeisen Group. Among other things it operates, via a subsidiary, simpliTV, the Austrian TV platform that is available via antenna, satellite and streaming.

ORS has been a client of Insys Video Technologies since 2017 and has been using its technology to distribute simpliTV. The latter is now available from multiple providers on multiple devices including tablets, mobile phones, smart TVs and web browsers.

Insys enables simpliTV to deliver features including catch-up, nPVR, pause/resume across multiple devices, and intelligent content recommendations. The companies have also jointly implemented a streaming platform for the Austrian Parliament in 2020.

Insys said that ORS’s investment will enable it to expand its online video distributor business technically and organisationally. ORS will receive an end-to-end online video platform with all the components necessary for linear and non-linear video distribution over the internet, it said.

Insys said that the investment would help both it and ORS expand their reach and growth globally as providers of OTT video technology. It said that Insys Video Technologies now more opportunity to grow its business and reach customers in the DACH region in particular.
