A1 Bulgaria continues sports rights expansion with French Cup deal

A1 Bulgaria’s sports service MAX Sport has acquired the live rights to the French Cup TV rights from the French Football Federation (FFF). The deal runs for four seasons and kicks off on January 6 with Chateauroux vs Paris Saint-Germain.

Owned by A1 Telekom Austria, A1 Bulgaria has built up a strong portfolio of soccer rights in recent times. Aside from the French Cup, it recently picked up LaLiga for five seasons, and also renewed its relationship with Serie A. Other sports properties which air on the MAX Sport channels include UEFA Champions League, athletics’ Diamond League, UFC, MotoGP, WRC, NASCAR and NHL.

The Max Sport portfolio has been expanding in recent years as new rights have come into the group. Altogether there are now four channels under the brand. At the same time, A1 Bulgaria has been ramping up the capability of its Xplore TV offering.
