Swiss Broadcasting deploys next-gen Viaccess-Orca CAS solution

Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR) has announced a new partnership with Viaccess-Orca (VO) to provide content protection for its satellite TV distribution.

SRG SSR has introduced a new card version of VO’s Conditional Access System (CAS) which is embedded within set-top boxes and features the latest chipset and new-generation smartcard security.

VO’s CAS solution has been deployed by more than 50 operators around the world for all types of delivery networks. VO said that the seamless, end-to-end card and cardless CAS solution “guarantees the highest flexibility, a short time to market, and a quick ROI for Swiss Broadcasting Corporation.”

Simon Blumer, Head of Technical Communications at Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, said: “As Switzerland’s public media company, we provide an important service to society, broadcasting a wide range of content including news, culture, education, entertainment, and sports. Having a CAS that is reliable and simple to deploy is imperative, and VO’s newest smartcard technology is an ideal solution for us.”

Pascal Birot, VP of Sales EMEA at Viaccess-Orca, said: Swiss Broadcasting Corporation has been a valued customer of ours for 25 years, and we’re excited to help the organisation usher in a new era of content protection with our latest smartcard technology. VO’s new-generation smartcard is a game-changer for pay-TV operators and broadcasters, enabling them to carry out important tasks such as data encryption, authentication, and more.”
