Parrot Analytics: Apple continues to reap rewards of Ted Lasso hype

Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso has continued to prove a hit for Apple TV+, topping Parrot Analytics’ originals in-demand chart for the week ending September 4 in Ireland.

Parrot Analytics analyses the demand for recent popular digital titles across international markets, based on the application of artificial intelligence to expressions of demand across social media, fan sites, peer-to-peer protocols and file-sharing platforms. The analyst illustrates demand expressions based on how much more popular a charted title is than an average TV show.

The southwest London-based football comedy continues to resonate with audiences and prove to be Apple TV+’s first mainstream hit, with the series attracting 18.67 times the demand of an average show.

Away from the top of the list, it is Disney that dominates. Its trio of Marvel series for Disney+ – Loki, WandaVision and the ongoing animated anthology show Marvel’s What If…? – all feature, while the Star Wars series The Mandalorian also continues to be a hit.

Shows from Disney-owned Hulu also feature in the chart. This includes the new comedy crime fiction series Only Murders in the Building, which is carried on Disney+ in Europe. Other Hulu series in the chart include The Handmaid’s Tale, and Nine Perfect Strangers, though neither series is available on a Disney-owned service in the country.

Netflix and HBO Max both feature once with their bankable IP Stranger Things and Titans respectively.
