Report: Oculus Santa Cruz due for Q1 2019 launch

Facebook-owned Oculus is aiming to launch its latest headset, dubbed Santa Cruz, in the first quarter of 2019, according to a virtual reality news site UploadVR

The report, which cites “multiple independent sources”, said that official confirmation of the device’s launch date is expected to come at the Oculus Connect 5 conference in California next month.

The Santa Cruz was first announced at Oculus Connect 3 in 2016 and is due to be a wireless, standalone headset that supports advanced features like inside-out tracking and six-degrees of freedom (6DoF) movement.

The headset is tipped to bridge the gap between Oculus’ high-end, PC-tethered Rift headset and its low-price, all-in-one Oculus Go device that it released out earlier this year.
