Russian service provider ER-Telecom, which operates the Dom.ru brand, has launched a programme of large-scale modernisation of its WiFi infrastructure, upgrading 5,000 hotspots in 56 cities.
The operator plans to replace 9,000 devices this year and incrase connection speeds to up to 300mbps.
ER-Telecom has tapped Ruckus Wireless and Maipu Technology to provide the upgrade, which will see the deployment of 802.11n, MIMO and Ruckus’s Beamforming technology, as well as dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices.
