Anevia enables pause TV for Portugal’s Optimus

Video streaming specialist Anevia has deployed a pause TV solution for Portuguese mobile operator and IPTV service provider Optimus.

Optimus, owned by telco Sonaecom, has deployed an FTTH network in Portugal that reaches over 400,000 households, offering triple-play services and advanced interactive functionalities. Anevia ViaDemand is a carrier-grade software-based solution for delivering video-on-demand services through IP networks. Anevia’s circular buffer technology supports time-shifting applications including pause TV which allows viewers to pause a live television program and afterwards play a recording from where they left off.

Anevia deployed its ViaDemand Streamer software to enable Optimus to offer pause TV features to its customers. Dynamic load balancing of recorded content across the Optimus IP network is managed through the Anevia ViaManager software.

“IPTV is much more than just video over IP. It’s also about advanced features, such as time-shifting, that allow Optimus to continually innovate and enhance the viewing experience of their growing customer base,” said Damien Lucas, Anevia co-founder and vice-president, strategy.

Anevia will be exhibiting at IBC on Stand 4.B66
