UPC Romania clarifies on football offering

UPC RomaniaLiberty Global-owned cable operator UPC Romania has committed to upgrading only those subscribers who notify it of their desire to pay for it to a new premium football package, Football Extra.

The move follows censure by the country’s consumer protection authority, the ANPC, after it received a number of complaints.

UPC introduced two new football channels in June, Look TV and Look Plus, to cover local League football matches. Look Plus will air about half the matches of the country’s top league.

The operator launched the two channels together as a packaged option, Extra Fotbal, offered free of charge in July. It has now committed to charge the regular RON10 (€2.25) subscription for this unless customers express a specific desire to include the option in their package.
