Vivendi completes Activision Blizzard sale

Vivendi has completed the sale of games division Activision Blizzard. 

Vivendi has divested its 85% stake in the games company, netting it US$8.2 billion (€6.1 billion) in cash and providing greater financial flexibility as it studies options for a demerger. The French conglomerate will retain a 12% stake in Activision Blizzard.

The sale of the games company follows last week’s lifting by the Delaware Supreme Court of an injunction preventing Vivendi from going ahead with the sale.

Vivendi chairman Jean-René Fourtou recently said he was considering restructuring the group by spinning of its media units, including Canal+, and Brazilian telco GVT while retaining control of French telco SFR.
