Sky Deutschland to reach 3.8 million subs by 2012, says analysts

Sky Deutschland is expected to reach 3.8 million subscribers by the end of 2012, according to analysts Morgan Stanley.

The investment bank has noted that the satellite pay-TV platform, which is part owned by News Corp, will reach 2.9 million by the end of next year, up from its current base of 2.4 million.

“We look for Sky to reach 2.9 million subscribers by the end of 2010 and 3.8 million by the end of 2012l. This still represents just 10% of German households at that stage. For comparison Premiere reached a peak of 3.65 million subs in Q4 2007. Our forecast subscriber numbers for Sky are therefore hardly a leap of the imagination,” said Morgan Stanley.
