Pace delivers new Viasat hybrid DVR

Modern Times Group’s Viasat Broadcasting has chosen long-term set-top box partner Pace to deliver a new HD DVR with an Ethernet port.

The new hybrid TDS855NV 320GB HD DVR will replace the existing TDS850NV 250GB HD DVR, enabling an additional 40 hours of content to be stored. The device supports both MPEG-2 and H.264 and has dual DVB-S2 tuners, allowing users to record and watch content in various ways.
An ethernet connector on the device enables IP content to be delivered over low-bandwidth connections using NDS’ progressive delivery technology. Pace said this supports Viasat’s rollout of its ViasatOnDemand HD service and will also allow end-users to watch a wider selection of movies, TV series, on-demand and catch-up content through their broadband internet connection.
