KPN extends Dutch football deal with KNVB

KPNThe Netherland’s telco and TV operator KPN have extended its partnership with the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) to air coverage of KVNB’s football leagues until 2026.

The long-standing agreement between the two bodies was first signed in 2017. KPN has since delivered coverage of the Dutch national team, the OranjeLeeuwinnen, E_Oranje and local amateur associations.

KVNB is the governing body of the main Dutch football leagues, the amateur leagues, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch men’s and women’s national teams

“One of the KNVB’s objectives is to take all of Dutch soccer to a higher level, and our partner KPN is helping us tremendously with this,” said Dave Dekker, director of commerce of the KNVB. “Their contribution is what we can call ‘total soccer’: from (technical) support of the national teams to amateur clubs. Think of the KPN Data Services Hub for the staff of national teams and the necessary connections for the E_ROOM and the VAR on the KNVB Campus in Zeist. In all these different areas, the KNVB and KPN find each other and therefore we are extremely pleased with this contract extension.”

“The partnership with the KNVB enables us to connect people with soccer,” added Mark Versteegen, director of sponsorship at KPN. “Thousands of KPN customers were and will again be welcome at the matches of Oranje in the coming years. On the KNVB campus in Zeist, we let children ‘Train like Orange’ during our soccer camps and organize the Soccer Friends Day for children with disabilities. With FC Mooiste Contact we regularly invite people, for whom social contact is not self-evident, to the matches of Oranje. In the coming years we will continue our efforts to enable as many people as possible to actively and passively enjoy soccer.”
