ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL fail in online platform bid

German broadcasters ProSiebenSat.1 and RTL have failed in their bid to jointly launch an online platform. In February, the German Federal Cartel office blocked a proposal by the broadcasters to develop a common online TV platform because of antitrust concerns. A regional court in Düsseldorf has refused an appeal against the decision.

RTL confirms executive appointments 


Pan-European broadcast group RTL has confirmed Thomas Rabe as its new chairman and Guillaume de Posch and Anke Schäferkordt as co-CEOs. The appointments were confirmed in the wake of the company’s annual general meeting after the co-CEO appointments were first announced last month.

TeleColumbus to add 10 HD channels from ARD and ZDF

TeleColumbus is adding 10 HD channels from public broadcasters ZDF and ARD. The German cable operator will add HD versions of ZDF’s ZDFneo, ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur, 3sat and Kika, along with ARD’s regional networks WDR HD, NDR HD, BR Süd HD, SWR RP HD and SWR BW HD when they launch on May 1.
