HaiVision names engineering chief

Video technology provider HaiVision has named Mahmoud Al-Daccak as senior vice-president of engineering. Al-Daccak was previously vice-president of engineering and chief technology officer at video infrastructure and remote editing applications provider MaxT Systems.

Arris acquires EGT video processing lines

Video technology company Arris has acquired the video processing assets of Atlanta-based EGT for US$6.5m. Arris said that EGT’s encoder and transcoder range would complement its existing video-on-demand, switched digital video and advertising insertion products.

T-VIPS launches DVB-T2 gateway

TV transport technology specialist T-VIPS is launching a new DVB-T2 gateway. The product, the CP560 DVB-T2 gateway, is designed to integrate with existing DVB-T headends and DVB-T2 modulators to enable terrestrial operators to take advantage of the 30-50% increase in bandwidth efficiency enabled by migration to DVB-T2, according to T-VIPS.

UPC Slovakia launches 120Mbps internet

Cable operator UPC Slovakia has launched EuroDOCSIS 3.0-based high-speed internet services offering speeds up to 120Mbps. The service (which offers 10Mbps upstream) is available for €40 a month. UPC is also offering a 60Mbps service for €30.
