Unitymedia upgrades Sundern

German cable operator Unitymedia has completed the upgrade of its network in Sundern. Households in Sundern and parts of Meschede can now sign up to Unitymedia’s triple-play services.

ACT appoints new president

European broadcasting body the Association of Commercial Television (ACT) has appointed Philippe Delusinne, chief executive of RTL Belgium, as its new president. Delusinne replaces M6 boss Nicolas de Tavernost, who was president of the body for the past six years.

Harmonic named “market leader”

Video equipment specialist Harmonic has been named the industry’s leading encoder company for 2008 by research firm In-Stat. Harmonic had a 28% market share in 2008, having shipped over 12,000 encoding channels to video service providers during the year.

Phorm receives £15m funding

Online targeted advertising specialist Phorm has secured £15m (€17.5m) of funding from investors. The company, which allows ISPs to track consumers’ internet use to personalise advertising, is believed to be in talks with a number of UK ISPs including TalkTalk, Virgin Media and BT.
