RSCC’s Express-A satellite reaches end of life

Russian satellite operator RSCC has announced that the Express-A No.3 satellite has been put out of service. The satellite was delivered to the 11° West orbital position in June 2000 and had a service life of seven years. All communications channels using the satellite have been transferred to the Express-AM44 satellite.

CS Link taps Astra for extra capacity

Ziggo inks SVOD deal with Sony



Dutch cable operator Ziggo has struck a deal with Hollywood studio Sony Pictures Television that will see it make a range of blockbuster films available via a subscription video-on-demand service. It will also launch movies including Spiderman 3, Surf’s Up, Superbad and Angels & Demons via its traditional VOD service.

TF1 appoints general director

French commercial broadcaster TF1 has appointed Axel Duroux as general director.Duroux will work closely with TF1’s CEO and chairman Nonce Paolini. He joins from RTL where he was chairman of the board.

Europe tops 12m IPTV subscribers
